Pine beetles are cunning little shits - in the dead of winter they produce glycol, antifreeze, which allows them to survive frigid Decembers and Januaries.

So what we really need is a cold snap now, or in the spring. Last cold snap in the mountains was 3 years ago today, and researchers agree it had a suppressive effect on the 2010 mpb population. So pray for cold! (Taken with Instagram)
